About Aktion Airport (Preveza, PVK)
Aktion National Airport (IATA: PVK) serves Preveza and Lefkada. It sits on the Aktion peninsula, on the south side of the strait into the Ambracian Gulf, almost opposite Preveza town. It opened in 1968 and is also used by the Hellenic Air Force and NATO. Since 2016 it has been run by Fraport Greece under a 40-year concession that covers 14 regional airports.
The quickest way between the airport and Preveza is the Aktio–Preveza undersea tunnel, which opened in 2002. It is 1,570 m long and is still the only undersea road tunnel in Greece. A toll applies (€3 as of January 2026). By road, the town centre is about 8 km away.
The terminal has shops and duty-free, cafés, ATMs, car rental desks, free Wi-Fi and parking. The airport's website lists the current bus connections and taxi information.
Good to know
- Allow extra time on summer weekends, when traffic builds up at the tunnel.
- Check the airport website for buses before you land. Taxis wait outside arrivals.
- Keep some change or a card for the tunnel toll if you're driving a rental car.
