Parga's long sandy beach just west of the castle: the most organised beach in the area, with water sports and the town a short walk away.

About Valtos Beach (Parga)

Valtos is one of the longest beaches of Parga and probably the best known in the area. It curves along the green bay just west of Parga's castle, about 1 km from the town centre, and from the sand you can see the castle of Ali Pasha at Anthousa on the hill above.

It is also the most organised beach around Parga, with places to eat, rooms to rent and schools for water sports. A small harbour serves sailing boats, and the historic church of Agios Spyridon stands almost on the sand. In Venetian times supplies for the castle came in through two bays, Valtos and Pogonia.

The point by the castle, known as Kastro Point, is a well-known surf spot, but the conditions suit experienced surfers.

Good to know

  • It is about 1 km from the centre of Parga, close enough to walk.
  • The water sports schools are here if you want to try something new.
  • It is one of the most popular beaches of the area, so expect company in high summer.

Help keep it unspoiled: take your rubbish with you, never light fires outdoors in summer, and respect wildlife and local life. How to travel responsibly
