About Mytikas Beach (Faros)
Mytikas is an old fishing village on the cape of the same name, about 7 km northwest of the centre of Preveza, and in recent years a summer resort too. Boats of local fishermen moor in its small fishing harbour, and a lighthouse on an islet just to the west is the village's landmark.
The village has several beaches, large and small, sandy and rocky, some with showers, sunbeds and umbrellas. Faros beach, on the west side, is fine sand and pebbles with a gentle slope into the water, easy to reach by car with free parking, and it faces the sunset.
North of the village the long beach of Monolithi begins, running for many kilometres up the coast. Fish tavernas in the village serve fresh fish with a view of the Ionian.
Good to know
- Stay for the sunset at Faros beach, then eat fish in the village.
- It is the closest Ionian beach to Preveza town, under 10 minutes by car.
- If Mytikas is busy, Monolithi starts just to the north.
Help keep it unspoiled: take your rubbish with you, never light fires outdoors in summer, and respect wildlife and local life. How to travel responsibly
