About Loutsa – Vrachos Beach
Loutsa and Vrachos are two ends of the same beach. Loutsa is the northern part, towards Parga, and Vrachos is the southern part, towards Preveza. Together they make about 3 km of golden sand, more than 50 m wide in places.
The sand is very fine both on the shore and in the water, apart from a narrow strip of gravel at the water's edge. The sea is mostly shallow, which makes this one of the best beaches in the area for families with small children. The water is usually clear and turns from light blue in the morning to deeper turquoise in the afternoon.
The beach is organised along its full length, with sunbeds, showers, changing rooms and water sports. A road with wide pavements runs behind it, lined with places to stay, tavernas and cafés. It rarely feels crowded, though it gets busier at weekends when locals come up from Preveza and the villages.
The coast faces west, so the sunsets here are spectacular.
Good to know
- Afternoon swells can build quickly and pull strongly towards the sea. Keep children close when the waves are up.
- There's parking along the beach road, usually even at weekends.
- There's no nightlife here. It's a beach for swimming, long walks and sunset dinners.
