About Lichnos Beach (Parga)
Lichnos is a cove about 3 km east of Parga, often named among the most beautiful beaches of the area. The beach is mostly sand, with stretches of fine gravel, between green hills.
In the rocks at its edge are two small sea caves, one of the sights listed for the Parga area.
The place has a long history. The prehistoric settlement of Toryne is placed on the high ground above the Lichnos cove, before the town moved to where Parga stands today in the Hellenistic period. In Roman times a small settlement here watched over two natural bays on the sea route between Italy and Greece.
